Steps for Health and High Design: A StairCase Study

NeoCon Presentation Description: The sculptural potential of stairs is one of the great joys of Architecture. How do you navigate the variables of structure, design, and constructability? Come hear the story of a sculptural stair - winner of Interior Design's "Best of the Best" 20-year retrospective award in the staircase category -that anchors a new corporate campus, conceived to be a beacon of healthy workplace life. The session will be fast paced, telling the full story of design and construction and sharing lessons learned from an exceptionally complex project. It will include initial concept sketches and renderings, working drawings, photos of mockups, photos and videos from construction, and finally photos of the finished installation. The presentation will share multidisciplinary insights on the creative process, including the client's perspective on engagement with complex projects.
