Including Every Body - A Primer for Design

NeoCon Presentation Description: Our goal as designers is to design for users, but how on earth are we to plan for every potential future user? By working with an inclusive mindset, we can attempt to design for most future users and their potential disabilities and environmental sensitivities. Inclusive design is not a new concept. For millennia, a combination of research and experimentation have worked together to create a robust world of inclusive design practices throughout society. How can we combine these findings, current accessible codes and standards, and our own design senses to create truly inclusive spaces that aim to welcome all bodies? Whether you are new to the world of accessible construction, an old hat at ensuring compliance with standards, or an avid buff of fun facts, Kate and Joanne will happily guide you through the foundations of accessibility in design and teach you how to go beyond, to create even more inclusive environments.
