NeoCon Presentation Description: To achieve Owner objectives, Architect, HVAC and Structural Engineer collaborated first with each other and then with GC and Subs to achieve an integration of systems to meet desired appearance and performance goal. Key focus of the presentation is resolution of one detail in a larger space that appears effortless, but required multiple disciplines of design and construction to collaborate and inform the solution. Assessment of the goals vs challenges, iteration of design and experimentation between the design team merged with added input from the construction team to adjust and refine to a constructable outcome is the presentation journey. This includes material study, performance, user experience within design intent. Learning objectives is to use resolution of a detail as a case study for team negotiation/communication skills, assessing challenges as possibilities/opportunities, ongoing education and reinforcing why design matters at small scale to achieve larger objectives.
