The road to patient health and staff health and wellness is paved with circadian-effective lighting, from hospitals to emerging behavioral health models.
This course explores the principles and practical applications of integrative lighting, emphasizing its impact on human wellness within healthcare environments. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of how light affects both visual performance and human health, and how the timing, duration, spectrum, and spatial aspects of light exposure are critical to designing environments that foster circadian entrainment. They will learn how to apply these concepts to the design of healthcare spaces a?? specifically patient room environments.
It will also shed light current trends in behavioral health environments and the lighting principles and techniques that benefit those within them, where healing the patient rather than treating the disease takes precedent, while defining terms such as salutogenesis, neurodivergence, and milieu.
