Juan Moreno, founding principal of JGMA, and Jose R. Sanchez, CEO of Humboldt Park Health, will discuss how design and institutional vision catalyze neighborhood revitalization, preventive health, and social, economic, and environmental well-being. Attendees will explore strategies for the 24-block district surrounding Humboldt Park Health Hospital, including site programming, land use, phased development, and public spaces that promote wellness and engagement. Juan Gabriel Moreno is an award-winning architect and President of JGMA (Juan Gabriel Moreno Architects). Mr. Moreno was born in Bogota, Colombia and studied architecture at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. In 2010 he launched JGMA with the purpose of positively impacting Chicagoâs diverse communities. Since, JGMAâs designs have helped to create a culture of change in many of these disadvantaged communities by bringing an architecture of dignity and profound transformation both nationally and internationally. JGMA has become a recipient of numerous awards and recognitions from notable organizations worldwide.

José R. Sánchez, President and CEO of Humboldt Park Health, brings extensive experience and expertise in the healthcare sector to his role. Since late 2010, he has led the hospitalâs efforts to advance health equity, leveraging his profound knowledge to introduce innovative solutions that meet the diverse needs of all patients.
Sánchezâs career spans over 40 years, during which he has faced and addressed numerous challenges in healthcare in both New York City and Chicago. His firsthand experiences with health disparities and structural racism in communities of color have fueled his dedication to improving healthcare delivery for underserved populations.
