Architecture as a Catalyst for Community Wellness

This presentation highlights the Humboldt Park Health Wellness District Master Plan, a visionary initiative transforming community wellness through architecture, urban design, and leadership. Juan Moreno, founding principal of JGMA, and Jose R. Sanchez, CEO of Humboldt Park Health, will discuss how design and institutional vision catalyze neighborhood revitalization, preventive health, and social, economic, and environmental well-being. Attendees will explore strategies for the 24-block district surrounding Humboldt Park Health Hospital, including site programming, land use, phased development, and public spaces that promote wellness and engagement. Participants will learn to align architecture with public health goals, plan phased developments, and create spaces that foster interaction, activity, and long-term impact.
