NeoCon Presentation Description: AI enables us to uncover rich data about how people move, behave and feel in spaces. These previously inaccessible insights can ensure every design decision is grounded in real human experience. Automated behavioral analytics use AI to analyze spatial behavior from video, revealing patterns in movement and collaboration without manual annotation. Immersive VR studies capture pedestrian decisions and signage interactions, informing wayfinding that reduces cognitive load. AI-driven placemaking platforms create visitor personas and behavioral insights, guiding material choices and activations for inclusive community spaces. Additionally, sensor-enriched environments powered by AI enable real-time personalization of lighting, acoustics and comfort.
Integrating these capabilities into design workflows can enhance a sense of belonging, also reducing the need for visible tech. This session will explore practical applications and ethical considerations to leverage AI for human-centered design.
